I am honored to be one of three recipients of the inaugural Peggy McIntosh Equity and Justice Award, given by Multicultural BRIDGE on November 17 at Kripalu in Lenox. BRIDGE created the award in recognition of Dr. McIntosh’s work in gender equity and her role as a white ally in the movement for racial justice. Award recipients Natalie Shiras and Marcia Savage are being recognized for their contributions to racial equity in religious sectors and dedication to women’s health and rights, respectively; I for my gender equity work with The Women’s Times, and my role in co-founding the festival Lift Ev’ry Voice: Celebrating African-American Culture and Heritage in the Berkshires with Shirley Edgerton.
The November 17th event included a keynote by Dr. McIntosh and the presentation of other annual awards, as well as dinner, music, dancing and a celebration of BRIDGE’s work.
