More than 650 solidarity marches and events were organized by volunteers around the world on January 21 for those who wanted to support the day’s Women’s March on Washington but couldn’t attend in person. In the Berkshires, an astonishing 1,640 people showed up at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, where a live stream delivered speeches and the energy in Washington to the audience. Among the companion activities at the Colonial was a post-it board in the lobby where participants could respond to the prompt “I will…” and add it to the others. The board became a wall that was jam-packed by the day’s end.
